TMR Loves Local Music : Stay Gypsy isn’t just a band name, it’s a way of life.

It’s like a drug having those shows…We all pretty much played so hard we barely remember being on stage!

TMR’s Featured Denver Rock Band – Stay Gypsy

It was beginning to snow when we headed into The Music Range to meet with Stay Gypsy – one of Denver’s hardest working Alt/Rock bands. We weren’t sure what to expect, seeing that Colorado’s rock scene seems to be dominated by the jam and EDM realms, we were eager to meet a musical unicorn if you will. When the band first arrived, you could tell immediately by their relationship that this was a team who not only worked really hard together, but knew how to have a ton of fun while doing it. Rehearsing a staggering 18 hours a week, Stay Gypsy doesn’t seem to have a plan B if rock doesn’t work out, and they carry a healthy mentality that this is the best job they will ever have (other budding artists could take some notes from these musicians). Shooting for 200 shows in 2020, this will not be the last time you’ll hear from Stay Gypsy.  We asked them the same 4 silly questions we ask every band, to get an idea of what makes up Stay Gypsy and caught a bit of their rehearsal at The Music Range – check out the interview and photos below along with how to listen, follow and support Stay Gypsy.

TMR: If your band could be summed up by a superhero, which one would it be and why?

Stay Gypsy: Deadpool! We love irony and sarcasm and have a playful demeanor on stage. We don’t take ourselves too seriously.

TMR: What was your favorite show you ever played?

Stay Gypsy: A show at Herman’s Hideaway we did. It was packed and it was one of the most energetic crowds we’ve ever played with. Family was there, friends were there, it was the perfect mix. We were riding that high for a long time after that show. We have been chasing that crowd ever since then! It’s like a drug having those shows, you constantly want to re-create that feeling and vibe so that’s our goal now. We all pretty much played so hard we barely remember being on stage!

TMR: What is your dream lineup to play with (Dead or Alive) + One local band

Stay Gypsy:

Lynyrd Skynyrd (original lineup)

Led Zeppelin

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Local band – Float Like a Buffalo

TMR: What is your favorite thing about The Music Range so far? Why do you rehearse here?

Stay Gypsy: So Clean! High quality gear, set back and hidden so you feel like it’s your own personal space, tech is rad, we love being able to come in whenever we want at the click of a button.

Don’t let this calm pose fool you, Stay Gypsy is vibrating with a rock n’ roll mission to melt faces on stages across the Front Range and beyond!
